REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SORONG -- Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) of Sorong City Kisman Rahayaan asked Muslims in the area to celebrate Eid 1445 Hijri as part of strengthening to share for the sake of the welfare of the people is incapable.

“As God's representative in the world, Muslims have a responsibility to bless society by providing welfare to the underprivileged, both economically, health, education, and so on,” he said after giving a lecture at the 1445 Hijri Eid al-Fitr prayer in the courtyard of Sorong Mayor's Office in Sorong, South West Papua, on Wednesday.

All this time, he said, people were still struggling with hedonism, eventually forgetting various obligations to the Dhuafa.

According to him, this condition requires special attention of Muslims as a religion with the majority adherents to be responsible for providing welfare to the needy.

In addition, he said, Muslims are required to cultivate piety, that is, piety personally by building a relationship with God and piety nationwide by helping to create conditions for a safe and peaceful Indonesian nation.

“So Muslims are also responsible for how to create a climate and conditions conducive to supporting development in this country,” he said.

He explains the importance of people viewing all human beings as brothers and fellow beings of God's creation in order to support the creation of an increasingly better and conducive value of tolerance.

“So on this day of victory, I invite all Muslims, especially in Sorong City, to be able to better understand the momentum of Eid al-Fitr so that the quality of life of Muslims will improve even more,” he said.

An administrator of the Islamic Day Committee (PHBI) of Sorong Basirun City explained that the 1445 Hijri Eid al-Fitr prayers in the area are centered in five places, namely the reclaimed beach area of Kampung Baru, Lantamal XIV Sorong Square, Sorong Mayor's Office Square, GOR Pancasila Jalan Baru, and Al-Akbar Grand Mosque of Sorong City.

“Those following the Id prayer in the courtyard of the Sorong Mayor's Office revolved around a thousand more Muslims,” he said.

The enthusiasm of Muslims to follow the Id prayer as high, is evident in the site which has been set up entirely full by the ummah.

“The momentum of the Id prayer took place safely and smoothly because there was involvement from the police to maintain security in the Id prayer area,” he said.
